Thank You For Keeping Me Informed

As the NHL Playoffs come to an end I am reminded how thankful I am that technology has enhanced our ability to be well informed when it comes to all things. But specifically sports. Whatever you find passion in, you can also be thankful that the advances made by people such as Steve Jobs has done for the way you stay informed.
This past weekend proved to hold some big games in the road toward the 2013 Stanley Cup and while hockey isn't my sport of choice, I found myself checking on scores and watching highlights as the games were being played. I am a busy woman with a long list of things to do that I rarely find the time to complete.
Thanks to the following apps along with constant social media updates I am able to stay current on all sports, even those I am not interested in.
  1. Fox Sports Mobile is a great app that is universal for iPhone and android. This is app gives us the ability to not only have live updates, but we can watch local coverage or listen to coverage of any sport being aired on the Fox Sports Network.
  2. Sky Sports Mobile is another app that is not phone specific. This app is available on your iPhone, blackberry or android device. This app allows similar possibilities as the Fox Sports Mobile app. With this app you have multiple sub categories you can download to stay specific to your interests. You will no longer have to wait to see the news when you get home or call a friend to get an update. It is all at your fingertips.
  3. MobileSportsTV is an app that is conducive with most smart phones and downloading this app will give you real time highlights of all sports going on across the globe.
  4. NFL Mobile Premium is an app that is catered solely to the football fan. But in this country who isn't a fan? Okay, I am sure we can find a few but all the same this app allows you to watch all games for only $5.00 a month. Never miss a game again.
  5. ESPN ScoreCenter is a free app that may not offer you the ability to watch the games live. But they do provide you will highlights of the game as well as constant updates on scores. It is similar to watch Sports Center at home, but you can be anywhere in the world and not miss a beat.
  6. CBS Sports offers similar capabilities as ESPN ScoreCenter. Add your favorite teams and get alerts that notify you when something major happens. This is a great app for the lover of all sports around the world. There are few limitations. Again, you won't be watching the games. You will however, be seeing the important highlights which is just as good. All they are doing is weaning out the boring parts and the commercials.

From Twitter to Facebook all the way to mobile apps. It is easy to stay up to date on what is happening with your favorite sport team. This capability has changed the way we view sports as well as the amount of sports we have the time to follow. So again, thank you technology for making me a knowledgeable in all sports.
