Apple has reportedly secured trademark rights to the term "iWatch" in Japan.
Mobile Syrup (Technorati Top 100 Technology, Gadgets) reports that the move is likely a defensive one, meaning that Apple doesn't want any other company able to name such a product.
The article states that while the iWatch has long been rumored, consumers may still be a ways off from seeing the concept come to fruition.
Certainly, thoughts of an iWatch are nothing new. Some visionaries have even gone so far as to create concept videos like this one.
