Mozilla Partners With Givit for Firefox Flicks

While everyone is focused on the new Chrome devices and the deal to make Bing the official web browser of Facebook, Mozilla and their Firefox browser is working on a mobile campaign that is sure to garner some artistic attention. The Firefox Flickscampaign is looking for amateur filmmakers to submit their videos showing how having access to the web via a mobile device changes the way we view the world. There are many prizes to be had, including film distribution and a trip to Los Angeles to professionally film the winning entry.

The contest — being judged by Ed Norton, Helen Estabrook, Franklin Leonard, Cooper Samuelson, Shauna Robertson and several other entertainment industry luminaries — looked to iPhone video editor Givit to exclusively handle entries. Givit allows anyone with an iPhone to quickly film and edit a short film, without the need for expensive fimmaking equipment.

Additionally, Givit will have an exclusive @FirefoxFlicks channel within the Givit app, featuring several early stage winners and other front running entries throughout the duration of the competition. Videos can capture real-life situations, animation, incorporate footage from other apps such as Vine and really — anything that illustrates how the mobile web has changed our perception of the world.

The second round submission date to qualify for the Firefox Flicks Early Entry awards is May 29, and the final contest submission deadline for all entries is July 31, 2013.
